Was I hacked?

I was either hacked or my “comment” table corrupted & deleted itself, which I’ve never encountered (funny that the crucial table corrupted itself, and all the other tables were fine). Unfortunately, my last backup was on 2/2/07, which is not good if you’re using blog software that rewrites urls on-the-fly. If you are, backing up your .htaccess file is just as critical as backing up your MySQL database.

Having a somewhat recent copy of the .htaccess file that Wordpress writes to when it creates a new page saved me hours of hand-rewriting urls. However, it appears that I’ve lost a few comments, but other than that I think I have everything restored. My apologies, but you live and learn (most of my Sunday) from laziness, and the installation of a new skin/theme, the latest version of Wordpress and the automated (nightly) backup script I’ve been meaning to write have been forcibly effected.
