Here comes the lake!
It’s somewhat challenging to be inspired with a decent lake post when it’s cold and your dock is bone-dry. But here comes the lake, which means Spring is right around the corner; spring forward comes early this year for the first time and is only a week away, woohoo!
We were high-&-dry a week ago but the dock is already starting to level out a bit, which makes it a lot easier to adjust the webcam and a heck of a lot easier to fly fish the lower Toccoa River. Dust-off the fly rods folks!

Lake Levels | 1,082 views
There goes the lake! The TVA started lowering the lake this past weekend - probably due to the drought. It never got to full pool. Today is the first time I have seen the lake level drop below the TVA Operating Guide “Expected Elevation Range”.
TVA Operating Guide
It doesn’t look good. It’s almost dipped to the balancing guide. We need a few hurricanes.
I think it is only going to get worse. Compare the TVA Operating Guides for Blue Ridge, Nottely, Chatuge, Hiawassee and Fontana. Blue Ridge is the only one that is still above the Balancing Guide. We are just getting into the power generation season.
I just pushed our dock out about 10 feet. If I had waited another day, it would have been essentially dry, as I barely dislodged it. Shallow-cove dock owners need to keep an eye on things.
