Resort Status

According to the paper, there will not be a new ‘resort’ on the lake until at least 2010. After receiving the results of a recent study (taken during last year’s big drop for the dam repairs) on the dam’s geologic health, the TVA now states that it must add 30 feet of fill to both sides to the dam’s base along its entire 1000 ft. length. This is to take place during the next big lake drop of 85 feet in the winter of 2009. That means groundbreaking will not take place until at least 2010–if ever. Looks like at least five more years of slower-rising property taxes and a less-crowded lake.
